The end of the union tax and the new face of the assistance contribution

This research presents the changes in terms of funding sources supported by unions in Brazil since the advent of the Labor Reform in 2017, which introduced changes that affect Collective Labor Law. To this end, an analysis will be made of the union contribution and the assistance contribution, which were the subject of recent decisions handed down by the Federal Supreme Court. Thus, through a qualitative approach and exploratory research supported by legislation, judicial decisions and technical works, we intend to elucidate the implications of legislative changes and the current understandings of the Supreme Court in the aforementioned contributions and their impact on Brazilian union labor.
